This three day geotechnically focussed health and safety course has been developed by industry specialists and is a unique course for managers and supervisors involved in projects in the drilling and geotechnical industry. The course is certified by IOSH and is the industry equivalent to the SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme) construction qualification, and is recognised by CITB and Build UK as such. This course has also been approved by The Environment Agency, Thames Water, AGS and BDA and also meets all of the requirements of Build UK.

Who should attend?

The course is aimed at site managers and supervisors as well as specific drilling supervisors who are or will be expected to be involved on sites where geotechnical works are carried out. This one day course will provide a deep dive into the AGS data transfer format for geotechnical and geoenvironmental data. The focus will be on the data itself, not its implementation in software. The course starts with a recap on fundamentals such as the data structure and file format rules, focussing on some of the less well-known aspects. It then goes on to study specific areas of the AGS data schema, identifying some of the common problems that can arise and strategies that can be adopted to avoid them. Specification and validation of AGS data are also covered.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for anyone involved with the specification, production or use of AGS data, i.e. clients, contractors or consultants. Some prior knowledge and experience of the AGS format will be beneficial, but this does not need to be extensive. This one-day course compliments the Basic Foundation Design course and concentrates on more detailed worked examples of geotechnical design to EC7 for both shallow foundations and pile groups.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at geotechnical practitioners and engineers who are involved in foundation design recommendations and who are starting to carry out geotechnical design using EC7 approaches or who feel they would benefit from a refresher.

The course delegates should have a knowledge and basic understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design. They should have a degree in civil engineering and/or a Masters in engineering geology/geotechnics.
