Equipe, alongside key representatives from industry bodies like the AGS and BDA, have crafted the most relevant and practical qualifications for technical professionals operating in the geotechnica sector. These NVQs were developed with input from top experts to meet the exacting demands of geotechnicians and materials testing specialists.

The qualification builds upon existing laboratory testing qualifications but has been fully revised to ensure that it directly applies to the activities and requirements of technicians within the geotechnical and materials testing environments – making them fit for purpose in the modern geotechnical landscape.

Focused Competency in 5 Critical Pathways:

The Geotechnician NVQs have been developed to ensure suitable training is in place and to provide competency assessments in five main areas:

  1. Geotechnical Laboratory Test Technician

  2. Geotechnical Field Test Technician

  3. Cone Penetration Test (CPT) Technician

  4. Construction Materials Test Technician

  5. Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Technician

The units which make up the qualifications are unique to each pathway and will require technicians to provide evidence that they can both perform the geotechnical activity competently and also that they have sufficient knowledge to support their work.

The Level 3 Diploma was developed to create a career path for those carrying out a higher level of skilled activities within both field and laboratory geotechnical activities. This NVQ is also aimed at those proving mentoring, training and supervision for trainee and Level 2 technicians and those who have a higher level of responsibility with regard to integrity of the data and

To achieve this VQ, you must achieve the 6 Mandatory Units, plus 1 Optional Unit.
